June 11, 2011 – Houston, TX – COMPU-DATA International, LLC is proud to announce the release of DAFConnect™, a new utility that allows the user to upload documents into SharePoint® outside of the portal interface directly from the individual user’s desktop. What started as a capture/upload utility to facilitate directing content into their DigitalAsset Finder™ (DAF) application, evolved and grew to include that same capability for organizations utilizing SharePoint® 2007 and 2010.
There are two variations of the utility at this time; a free version requiring only registration of the software that allows users to send documents from their desktop to a SharePoint® library, and a ‘Professional’ version that builds upon the basic functionality of the free version and implements full drag and drop capability, multiple SharePoint® Farm definition and Folder structure management but directly from within the desktop or an MS Office application including Outlook. The ‘Pro’ version also allows manipulation (creation, renaming, and deletion) of the SharePoint® library folder structure as long as the SharePoint® user has the requisite permissions.
CDI’s President and CEO, Juan J. Celaya had this to say about their unique marketing strategy regarding this product; “As part of our DigitalAsset Finder™ v3.0 product we incorporated a tool that lets the user load files directly into our product libraries. Once we completed that development we quickly realized that it would be helpful if the application would also allow for the same interaction from the desktop with SharePoint® and other systems that users interface with to load data. Since we also use SharePoint® internally, we quickly recognized that a single application with the ability to connect to the two platforms would be very helpful for us.”
